Buying a new home PC. Will you share some advice?

My needs:

*A lot of video editing/graphics

*sound mixing

*Microsoft suite (Word/Excel)

*CD/DVD burning

*Web hosting (more of a software issue...)

*Need to be able to share files with PC users

Budget is $1,500 - $2,000. Can't go over $2,000.

Thanks for your advice.Buying a new home PC. Will you share some advice?
I would go to www.cyberpowerpc.com to get the system. You'll get much more computer for your money than with Dell and an automatic 3 yr warranty at no extra cost. This place is kind of geared to gaming computers, but if you are going to be doing video editing and want good graphics, the needs are the same. Here are some specs which I feel will help you in your stated needs.

-Intel E6600 Core2 duo processor

-320 mb hard drive with 16mb cache (at least)

-If doing sound mixing, spring for the dedicated sound card.

-nVidia 7900 or higher video card with at least 256mb video ram. If prefer ATI video cards, go with X1950 or one of their All In Wonder cards for the video inputs.

-Dual layer dvd +/- r/rw drive. 2nd dvd drive convenient.

-2 gb RAM

They offer Microsoft Office as an option. Sharing files is controlled by you, right click on folder you wish to share and left click on ';Sharing and Security';

Good Luck!!Buying a new home PC. Will you share some advice?
Just don't buy a Dell, whatever you do. That's my only piece of advice.

I bought a Dell, high quality ... it has crashed 5 times already and no one at Dell support helps you. At all.

They are god awful computers, and the WORST customer service around.
U need gud graphix and sound cards.

U will need to buy microsoft office separetely.
For starters the MS Office is about $500. I paid around $400 for an upgrade to the new 2007 version. Computers don't come with that standard, you have to pay extra for that. Other than that, I think you're out of your budget. You could try Dell or HP or Systemax, or go to a private computer maker and have one specially built for you with your specs and needs. But again, I think what you want is out of your budget already.
go to dell.com they have many choices and provide excellent support. they have fairly competitive prices.
