Need advice to buy a new laptop?

i know there has been many people ask about this but i just can't get the answer of which laptop i should pick...

i'm a universty student so i use my laptop to do my homework, connect to internet, etc (general purpose)... i'm a moderate gamer and i like to use photo %26amp; video editing software.

another thing i consider for my new laptop is it should be light, not too thick...

i don't have any brand preferences and my budget will be $2500 or less...

please help me... i hope your answers come with reasons so that i'll know why i'll have to choose it...

thanks!!Need advice to buy a new laptop?
Dell XPS M1330

that you mentioned lightweigt, thought a 13.3'; screen system would be just ideal, weighing in at 4 lbs or 1.82 kgs

'' i chose to get get started with dell, cause then you can configure build exact ... and get a price tag too ... a good starting point ''

processor T9300 %26gt; the very best that money can buy, useful for your editing tasks and some futureproofing too

T9500 %26amp; the extreme cpu's are simply waste of money

GeForce鈩?8400M GS should serve for moderate gaming

now you can opt for a better wi-fi 'n' card, should you need to, as also bluetooth

note: see the warranty %26gt; 3 years premium, all accidents covered (and theft too they claim, or rather you pay for)

first i would need confirmation that this indeed suits you best, to be able to size up in entirety and look at the other good one's on offer

# now as far as the 'xps m1530', it is a 15.4'; screen system and hence portability factor is greatly reduced %26gt; 5.8 lbs. or 2.62 kgs starting. and yes should it suit you, the GeForce鈩?8600M GT graphics card should make for better game play

... so please first confirm your inclination !Need advice to buy a new laptop?
The MacBook is probably the best deal for your money. It's a great computer. Almost all my friends have one and they all love them. You can also install windows on it if you need to.
I've had good luck with the Toshiba brand, you might want to check that out. You also might want two laptops, a regular one and an Ultra-Portable like the Asus Eee PC or one of its many competitors.

Good Luck.
Try the Dell Inspiron 1720. It's perfect for what you've described. With $2500 or less, you could trick this thing out like there's no tomorrow. I really recommend it.
