Im gettin a new puppy =] i need advice?

what kind of food

and anymore advice you can give me =]Im gettin a new puppy =] i need advice?
Get Blue Buffalo. He will love it.Im gettin a new puppy =] i need advice?
Nutro is awesome food.

Make sure you want a 'puppy' - I prefer to adopt dogs that are already housebroken and out of the chewing stage - otherwise - make sure you sign up for dog training classes and choose a breed that best suits your lifestyle.

I adopted a 2 yr old German Shepherd - awesome dog for 13 years!! A six week old Rottweiler who forever ruined me from ever owning another puppy - but awesome dog for 11 years. Now the current caregiver for a 4 year old Catahoula - adopted when he was 1 from my local shelter - awesome animal - great with kids, other people %26amp; animals. But training was key with all three.
I just got a puppy too! Its truely a lot of fun and hard work!

But first off you need to get a kennel where it can stand up and turn around in, but make sure it isn't too big where it can pee or poop in it.

You need a kennel because when your gone or can't watch it, you need to put it in their otherwise it will pee or poop all over your house, the kennel will teach it to hold it's bladder.

Second, get chew toys, because puppies LOVE to bite! And they are very playful!

Third, get it nutured, because if your getting a male, it won't mark it's territory all over your house, but it has to be 4 months old, and if your getting a female you should get it nutured too, so it won't have its period two times a year.

Fourth, I have science diet for his food, and I went to the vet to ask him if its a good kind of food and if it's nutritious, and he is it's PERFECT for it's immune system, digestive system, fur, teeth, and a bunch of other things!

Fifth, make sure you take it to the vet to get all it's shots done!

Sixth, potty training takes a lot of patience, my puppy is almost done I had him for alomst a month now, it's a mal-shi, a mix of maltese and shi tzu. When he/she is out of it's cage keep an eye on it at ALL times! Don't let him/she on the carpet until it is potty trained. I have a bell by my door to put his paw up to ring it, so then when he is potty trained he will ring the door whenever he has to go out. When he is 8-12 weeks old he can hold his bladder for only about an hour. So take him outside every 1, until he is about 14 weeks old then he would have learned to hold his bladder by you keeping him/she in it's kennel. Then just take him out about an hour and a half, or just keep doing an hour, if it doesn't hold it. Keep in mind that potty training can take up to 8 weeks or even 1 year.

Hope this helps! =]]

And Good Luck! =]]
A meat should be the first ingredient and you should be able to identify most of the ingredients. Don't buy from a grocery store! Buy a good quality food so that you can feed less. Somebody else recommended Natures Variety and I would agree with that. It is a great food.

I don't know where you are buying your puppy but get it from a good breeder. You could check with vets, groomers and dog trainers in your area for recommendations. Stay away from the designer ';breeds'; like 'doodles and 'poos, they have so many health and behavior issues.

Good Luck
be sure to have them ';deprived'; of their sex life, cute puppy collars are good to start off when their young because it builds a dog's since of fashion (yes , dogs have respect for fashion). Also, if you don't want the puppy to sleep all over the house then a nice dog bed made with a long shag-like fabric is the best approved for doggie comfort.

and puppy chow is pretty good....i have a Maltese and he's picky when it comes to food.

Good luck
When getting dog food, one should always know that you get what you pay for. Expensive dog foods usually fill the dogs up more, so they end up eating less. This is healthier for them, and will eventually save you money in the long run.

As far as my recommendation, I would suggest Purina Pro Plan. This brand has multiple options. Make sure, for your puppy, that you get the special puppy formula. This has healthy fats and nutrients for the puppy.
get small bags of food to test and see wat ur puppy likes best every day feed him/her dry food once but if it is really young then mostly use wet food make sure it has its own toys so it doesnt chew on u or furniture if it is gonna be an insied dog get puppy pads and tape them down so it wont mess them uptake it outside and play with it alot GOOD LUCK!
well i have just got a new puppy and the 1st thing she should learn is to do her Business out side other wise you will have to clean up every morning if you want to train her you could before she eats you could hold the bowl above his/her head and say sit and when she sits you will say good girl/boy you should give her pro plan puppy food or Eukanuba puppy food these food are prove'n that these are the best food for your dog i give my puppy pro plan because i have a border collie and pro plan preferred for my type of dog since they are such an energeticetic dog
Talk to a vet about this, my mother did this for my dog and she probably helped him to live longer because of that.

If the puppy hasn't already seen their reflection in the mirror, do that too... the reaction is priceless!! And have a camera ready, whether it's a video recorder or a simple camera. I recommend having a video camera with good resolution.

High quality puppy food.

The best dry puppy food will be recommended – Getting a recommendation from your veterinarian or breeder is a good place to start. Additionally, if you got your puppy from a breeder you will want to know what your puppy has been eating so you can avoid making a sudden change that can cause digestive upset. This same rule applies if you got your puppy from a friend or your local shelter.

k so wherever u are buying the dog from, ask them for their opinion and wat they have been feeding him. something natural wld be best. also, in order to potty train him, take him out to ur pasture ( if ur on a ranch or ...) or out out newspaper or somethin on a certain area outside. have treats with u and tell him to go potty, once he does, give him a treat, it works RLY well. b sure u tel him 'go potty' in the same tone. we did it with our lil lab puppy and now she is fully trained so we jst stand at the door and tell her go potty and she knows rite where to go! we also jst bought a maltipoo and are working on the same thing. let me know if u need any more help!! i will be glad to help!! = ]
Try iams or science diet. as a treat morsel thing on the top of his/hers hard food, get the science diet wet food and put a little dollop on top of his/hers food. also, if you do decide on iams, don't get their wet food. my five dogs don't much care for it (you can try it if you want). i'd get their gravy to put over his/hers meal. hope you have fun with your new puppy and if he starts to chew on furniture legs (like chairs and stuff) i recommend the bitter apple stuff. just spray it on to whatever he's chewing on. Good luck
I feed my puppy Purina Pro Plan and he loves it! Also try soft treats on the outside and kind of crunchy on the inside it helps when they are teething! Try the sit stay fetch program. you can get six days free in emails by signing up online. It tells you good ideas to how to house break and get them to stop biting and going to the restroom in the house! Good luck with your new puppy! They are always exciting!
Natural Food is best for dogs. We used to feed Prairie from Nature's Variety. It's small pieces of dry food, so its fine for lil' puppies to eat(:

Also, if you go on that website to ';feeding guide'; you can put in the weight of your pup, and the activity level, and t tells you exactly how much to give! It's great! (:
What kind of puppy are you getting? I would get a food made for puppies and I'll be honest with you, I use nothing by Purina. A lot of the other foods have been on the list of foods that was an a recall list and have been known to kill animals. I trust Purina.
well for my dog i feed it i Am's because my vet recommended it. so i go with i Am's if you don't like that food choice then go to your vet and ask them what type of food you should have for your dog.
try kibbles and bits. And puppies really need alot of attention. try buying it a little bed to sleep in and some toys for their teething. you should also try training it ASAP and start potty training. GOODLUCK!!!
we use Purina, our dog is like 15 lbs and like 14 yrs old. just wet it down a lil so it's easier to chew. find a good vet in your area. ask friends. one of my friends is a vet, so we use them. hope i help.
i love puppies you will have to experiment a little with food.its different with every puppy! :]
get iams for puppies, and what kind of dog are you getting?

oh and you will also need those pee pee pad things.
High quality puppy food.
