Just put your old hard drive in as a slave drive and then copy the files you want to the new hard drive. You obviously cannot get programs (unless it is just a single exe. file and nothing else) because it has to be installed and it is a different operating system.How can you transfer all the stuff off your old pc onto a new one??? There's a program out called disk copy. Last time I used it though was about 5 years ago. Might be something new now.
you can burn it to a disk. if that isnt an option set up a network using that fattay cable that connects your computer and printer, and i thing its also possible through ehternet and usb.
for files, try using thumb drive or external portable hard disk, more convenience+fast,but you need to buy one first. For programs, normally it wont works,but certain programs do works,it depends on which program you want to transfer, try%26amp;error for more details

That all depends on how much you have to transfer, what exactly, etc. For example, pictures, video, movies, any personal documents, such as WORD, EXCEL files ETC can be transferred with no problem, however the complete programs that run those files, which is MS WORD, MS EXCEL, Photoshop, etc cannot be transferred from old computer to a new. You must have a CD available to install them again.





Now, to transfer the files I described above, you may record them all on a CD and load them when you are done with the new computer or may purchase (and I recommend) a Flash Drive - 1-4GB which can hold from 1-6 CD's depending on its size and is a great tool to have on your keychain. All you do, plug it in the computer through the USB port and it creates a harddrive on your computer immediatelly with no extra software. You drag your files to it, remove, put in another computer and drag them over again....





Thats what you do to transfer files....
have a norton ghost software. then ghost your prefered files or drive into a cd or dvd. then ghost it back in your xp
to transfer files, all you have need is copying. if you know removing the hard disk of the old pc and put it into new pc, just copy and paste. Programs are not transferable, you must reinstall them.
